When we think about gemstones, we automatically think about the cut, color, clarity, carats, or value of the stones – all equally important. 

Gemstones are cut to display their interior. The cut gives gemstones a number of flat surfaces, or facets, which reveal the brilliance and sparkle of the gemstones. Even though all gemstones are composed of similar substances, their color, stories and backgrounds make them different. And the clarity and luster of the stones bring out their brilliance and transparency. The value of gemstones varies widely because they are not appreciated by everyone. 

The colors they have innocently shown because of their situations have not always been pretty. But their clarity and transparency make them who they are and cognizant of their value or worth. 

Gemstones are a lot like women. Even though their stories and struggles are different, their mission is the same: to embrace, become and love who they are. Gemstones have been cut by disrespect, sexuality, opposition, abandonment, envy, promiscuity, disabilities, trials and tribulations. 

Without further ado, let me introduce Ruby, Sapphire, Opal, Amber, Emerald, Pearl, Diamond and Topaz. They are all beautiful, rare and durable because of constant use and handling obstacles that have been placed in their way.

Even Me is a book about an unworthy feeling young woman who struggled with the scars and brokenness that were caused by a series of life interruptions. Living her life without the father whose love she so desperately craved caused her to look for love in all the wrong places. Becoming a single parent at the age of 20 made her realize that her life was not over, but just beginning. 

Losing loved ones and experiencing the shattering of hopes and dreams made her more dependent upon God. Even Me is about the inner strength that was found to overcome the many obstacles that were set before her. One day this young woman had a personal encounter with God that led her to being delivered from sinful acts that has kept her in bondage for years and the restoration that caused her to realize how worthy she really was.

 Even Me is a book that will encourage a single parent, make a non-believer believe in the Promises of Jesus, but most importantly, will lead some soul to their deliverance. Be it man, woman, boy or girl; 

God used me and he can still use you. After reading Even Me, I hope and pray that some young women or young man will realize that not all of life interruptions are meant for bad; but meant for your good.

As newlyweds, you look forward to your honeymoon. You also make plans as husband and wife. Our plans were simultaneously simple and lofty: expand our business, build our first home and travel the world. 

Sadly, Alex and I didn't get to build a house together. And instead of traveling he world, we made repeated trips to the hospital. As we were getting adjusted to being a married couple and learning more about one another, we were also learning the in's and out of the healthcare system and getting to know how people would provide exceptional care for Alex.  

When I think back to our wedding day and the vows we made before God, our family and friends, I smile warmly as I remember our covenant- that regardless of any challenges we faced, we would face them as one.
